Children and Adolescent Counselling
Children and Adolescent Counselling
Child, Adolescent and Family counselling offers crucial support for families navigating parenting challenges and mental health challenges in young people. It promotes healthier communication, strengthens family relationships, and equips parents with strategies to manage behavioural and emotional issues. For young people, it provides a safe space to express feelings, discuss complex peer interactions, develop coping skills, and address conditions such as anxiety, depression and emotional disregulation.
Overall, this form of counselling fosters resilience, improves emotional well-being, and enhances the family’s ability to support one another. When engaging in Child Youth and Family support, it is imperative that the therapist works systemically both with the parents and the child (together and separately) using principals from developmental psychology.
My industry experience includes extensive practice with children and adolescents. additionally, I currently facilitate outreach clinic's in local schools through the Central Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network.
When interacting with children, I may use play therapy approaches.
Children and adolescents who are struggling with emotional distress, eligible for a medicare mental health treatment plan or victims services package are incredibly welcome in my clinic.
